My mum's coming tonight and I'm picking her up from the airport in a couple of hours! I'm really looking forward to her staying with us, although it feels strange at the same time - that my dad will not be here too, asking for a rum and coke served with olives and a few slices of saucisson. I really miss him.
My dad's passing came as a complete and utterly shock to us all and sorting out the bureaucracy has been a big additional stress factor. Luckily it has all been sorted now. It's strange though how the universe (or whatever you'd like to call it) throws at you good things and bad thing, nothing is never entirely bad because something good always follow. That's what happened in the end of January: in all the mess my mum was called up and offered a job after being a stay at home wife for half her life, which to me seemed first incredible and then fantastic!
She doesn't need to take it for the money but she has accepted it to keep herself busy. Not that she needs that either - I've lost count of all the organisations/associations in which she volunteers. It's a superbly well paid 10 hours a week office job (nothing like my SMIC 10 hours/week last year!) which she can throw around as she wants - like taking a holiday to the South of France :)
Everything has found a new working order somehow and therefore the next two weeks will be dedicated relaxation. We don't have a lot planned for these two weeks other than going for walks with our step counters and maybe going to the spa, hairdressers, having manicure done... Just lovely things :)
